Reflection on God`s Promises
Whether excited about the journey ahead, or needing a bit of encouragement, we are not alone. Scripture reveals thousands of promises
from God and below you will find 40 of them to encourage and comfort. It may be that you are going through tough circumstances and need
renewed hope, or have a desire to know God more intimately. His promises are real. Take each one and let His desire for you to know Him
more intimately dwell in your heart throughout the day. Meditate on what He is wanting you to hear today and believe His promises for you.
God ALWAYS fulfills His promises. You & I may not, even though our intentions were good when we made them, but God is different. His Word
is true.
Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled. Joshua 21:45
(It`s worth noting, that God has not finished with Israel yet)

Just as God spoke the world into existence with power and might of his voice, when God declares that he will do something, it will happen.
The Bible reveals many promises made by God to named individuals, or for us today. Some of these are conditional - if we... then God
will ... . It is like an agreement, covenant or contract where both parties have a part.
There are some Promises that are unconditional, that God has or will perform.
In these 30 reflections, you can check whether you have a condition to fulfill, to know the promise will be fulfilled or whether this is an unconditional promised gift for you, that you simply need to receive.
Since we as believers through Christ have been grafted into the family of God, we can undoubtedly claim the promises of God’s Word! Because of this powerful truth, we can confidently pray God’s promises in our lives.Paul boldly wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:20 that, For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
God Promises His Faithfulness
Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous,
so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.”

Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 The one who calls you is faithful,
and he will do it.

1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except
what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let
you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
The faithfulness of God has proven true many times. In the Bible we see that God is faithful and His Word is true. Hebrews 6:18 says God cannot lie, nor can He break an unconditional promise that He says will be fulfilled. Every covenant He made is kept.God`s character is one of love and faithfulness. We can know this love, but only as we keep His commandments through our love for Him. Keeping His commands is not always easy, but as Believers we have Jesus who has made a way for us when he died on the Cross for our repented sins and wrongdoing.
What powerful ways have you experienced God`s grace? Has there been a time in your life when you were aware that God was helping you to have faith in Him?
God hears every prayer. The prayer always answered positively are the prayers which explicitly ask God to deliver on his promises to us. God will always say `Yes` when we ask him to do His work through His word.
Psalm 10:17 You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry.
1 John 5:14-15
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

God Promises to Hear us
Is there a time when God has responded to you in a way that has been “astounding”? Is there a time when his word has been confusing or even painful. Do you sometimes think your prayers are words going no where? God hears, but the response is in His timing.
God Promises to Comfort us
John 14:16 I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Jesus knew we, His disciples would have troubles, but promised that He would, (and has) sent the Comforter - the Holy Spirit to be with us.
How does the presence of the Holy Spirit impact your faith and spiritual journey? In what ways has the Holy Spirit guided or comforted you during challenging times?
God Promises to Guide us
Every one of us needs the guidance and direction
of the Lord throughout our lives. God wants to
guide you through every season of life. He has
promised in His Word to be your Guide and Leader.
Many people seek guidance from various sources other than God. One of the reasons King Saul died was because he consulted a medium for guidance (1 Chronicles 10:13).
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Isaiah 48:17 This is what the LORD says– your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.”
At what point do you ask God for guidance? Have you examples of His response to encourage you?
God Promises He has plans for us
Many like to hold on to the promise for direction in Jeremiah, though that was a promise made to the exiles in Babylon. However as we submit, our paths become straight, and with Him we certainly have a future and hope.
Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans that I have for you, plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways submit to him, and he
will make your paths straight.”
We often want God to be our life coach rather than our Lord. We want our pastor to give us tips on how to live an easier life, whilst forgetting that our mission is to exalt God, and let His Glory shape our desires and ambitions
How much are you co-operating with His call and plans rather than your own?
God Promises His Wisdom
James 1:5 “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you
should go; will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Unsure which way to go? God promises to instruct and teach you the way you should go, and He will do this
with His eye upon you, giving you his undivided attention.
This is a simple condition of asking! King Solomon was asked what he wanted, and asked for wisdom to govern
the people rightly, rather than for fame and riches. This pleased God, and he was given generously, and much more.
Negotiating life well requires wisdom.
How interested are you in becoming a wise person? What habits have you found helpful to grow in wisdom? What steps can you take in order to grow further?
God Promises to Save us
Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth Jesus
as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him
from the dead, you will be saved.”

John 10:28-29 I give them eternal life, and they shall
never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than
all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
This is one of the conditional promises. If we ... God will ... Speaking out the truth of knowing Christ, and what he has done confirms and affirms our status in Him, having accepted what Jesus did on the Cross for ourselves.

Being saved, leads to the promise of eternal life. - a life alive currently with a future promise of eternity with Him.
How is this image of security in Christ, and the certainty of His purposes toward us, a help to your heart in our current, uncertain times? What is God teaching you right now?
Psalm 27:13 I remain confident of this: I will see
the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Psalm 86:5 For You, O Lord, are kind and forgiving, rich in loving devotion to all who call on You.
Psalm 119:68 You are good and do good.

When facing trials, have you seen God`s goodness? If so, how?"
God is good. But what does that mean? One concept is that God’s goodness conveys His generosity. His goodness means far more than His generosity, but it includes His infinitely generous attitude toward us. By nature, He longs to bring joy and blessing to all His creatures. In the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe we are reminded that the goodness of God is not necessarily what the world says is good. Susan asks Mr. Beaver about Aslan, the great lion. “Safe? [the beaver scoffs] Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But He’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” Goodness is not self centred, but what God wants and has planned for us.
God Promises His Goodness
God Promises His Peace
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose
minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Philippians 4:7 The peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in
Christ Jesus.

Psalm 4:8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you
alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Peace is more than the absence of fear or conflict. It is positive well being, which allows the ability to thrive. Peace is the presence of calm in the midst of chaos. Peace is negotiated fto bring an end to conflict. This means that to have peace in the world everything must line up. This is different from God’s peace. The peace of God does not come because there is agreement. Many times the circumstances are so at odds with each other that it would make peace impossible. This is what makes God’s peace different. It exists in the midst of chaos and that is by design.
When have you known peace that when you consider the circumstances humanly, should not have been present. What was it like and how did it help you? When have you known peace that when you consider the circumstances humanly, should not have been present. What was it like and how did it help you?
God Promises us Hope
1 Peter 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.
This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares
the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Hope refers to a desire for something we are certain to receive, an assurance concerning the future. This is Christian hope. However uncertain our circumstances, or however God may answer our prayers, we know for certain He will work all things together for our good (Romans 8:23)
Hope is sure when it rests in something or someone absolutely able and willing to fulfill it (Christian hope). Like faith, the object of our hope is Christ:
“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and of Christ Jesus, who is our hope” 1 Timothy 1:1
When life is going well, is it easy to hope and trust God?
What about when you are going through something painful?
Where do you place your hope other than in Jesus?
God Promises to Provide for our needs
Philippians 4:19 My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 9:8 God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
What provisions and / or encouragement has God provided that enable you to honour Him in a) your identity, b) the Church, and c) wider society.
God will supply all our needs, but that does not mean our "wants". He will give us everything that we might think that we need. He knows far better than we do our true physical and spiritual needs, and He will always meet them according to His riches and His plan in Christ Jesus.
God Promises us Shelter
Psalm 91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord,
“He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present
help in trouble.”

Psalm 62:8 "Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Psalm 61:3-5 "For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take
refuge in the shelter of your wings.
The only place we can find complete and lasting refuge is with the Lord. The shelter that He provides extends far beyond the physical. Regardless of what's going onaround us, we can still find shelter with Him at all times.
Consider in what way is God your refuge? Are you currently facing difficulties that you can trust God to help you with?In the face of these difficulties if you are trusting in God how does your response differ?
God Promises us His Love
Nothing will separate us from God’s love.We live
in a sinful world full of promises and conditional
relationships. Sometimes even those closest to us
disappoint us. Despite this reality, our greatest need is to be loved unconditionally. We want to be loved by someone who knows us intimately with perfect love, sacrificed and forever despite our shortcomings. We want to be supported and inspired by that love not only to be a better person but also to leave a lasting legacy.God provides that to us as no one else can. That is what theologians have wanted to express over the years by saying that we have a God-shaped hole in our hearts; there is a space that we were created with that only God can fill. And the love that was determined for us to need is strong and unshakable.
1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails.
Psalm 103:17 But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.
Think of your most loving relationship (a relationship in which you feel the most loved, most secure,) - How does the love of God stack up to our earthly relationships?
How can we know that God`s love will never fail?(Hint: Think of Father God`s relationship with His Son, Jesus)
God Promises to be our Shield
Psalm 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
Genesis 15:1 Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.
Psalm 33:20 Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.
Psalm 91:14 "Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.”
A shield is defensive, protecting from
the enslaught. A shield is mentioned in Ephesians 6 as an item of protection that
is faith. As God is our shield, we need faith
and trust in Him to protect us in the spiritual battle. For the Roman soldier, his enemy had to get past the shield to inflict damage on the other parts of the armour and soldier himself. God as shield protects all the other pieces.
Are there areas of your life you are asking God to protect?
God Promises to prevent us from slipping
Psalm 94:18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
Psalm 27:5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
Psalm 66:9 He has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.
Like the psalmist we also struggle with thoughts of the seeming successes of the wicked, but the psalmist’s conclusion is to keep ourselves near to and submissive to the Lord, His standards, and His will so that we don`t fall into ungodly ways.
Reflect on a time when you felt like your foot was slipping witnessing injustice and wickedness. How did you respond?
How does this encourage patience and perseverance in times of adversity?
God Promises to never leave us
Psalm 94:14 The LORD will not reject his people;
he will not abandon his special possession.
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen
you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Matthew 28:20 Be sure of this: I am with you
always, even to the end of the age.
You will never be alone. God is always with us.
When your heart is broken, God is there to
comfort you. When no one else understands
you, the Creator of your heart does and
sends the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to help you. When you feel left out, isolated, or rejected, the wounds in the hands of our Saviour, wounds that understand our pain and love us infinitely.Do you really understand the magnitude of God’s promise to never leave you? The Bible emphatically proclaims this by stating that:
Even if your father and mother abandon you, the Lord will keep you close ( Psalm 27 :10)
God’s promises assure that we have a father and friend who will never abandon us.
Think how Immanuel - God with us - summarizes the entire story of redemption that the Bible proclaims. In creating, God said it was "Not good" that humans be alone. Does anything distract you from recognizing His presence?
God Promises Joy
Psalm 30:5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favour lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Psalm 126:5-6 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
Psalm 94:19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
Real Joy is fruit of the Spirit, and a part of the Trinity:

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:11

Our experience of Joy mirrors what the God-head exhibits. The joy we receive from the Holy Spirit is received by faith that hope in the glory of God’s grace, that belongs to us whatever the external circumstances.
How has God blessed you with joy? What did you feel in your heart and what was the result in your life?
God Promises Rest
Choosing to "Come" -turning to the One who is above all, knows all, is a good way to find rest, and a state of peace. God created rest for our benefit, to restore us. We can experience true rest when we spend time in God’s presence, praying or reflecting on His Word. As we take time from our busy schedule, we can be still, silent, present, and allow Him to work in us, that refreshes us ready for next episode.
Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.”

Exodus 33:14 “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

1 Chronicles 23:25 For David said, “The Lord God of Israel has given
rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.
How might Trust, allow God`s leading, giving our worries to Him and quieting our souls help our lifestyles?
God Promises Redemption
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name
humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn
from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and
I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that
any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.
Redemption is important to God. His love prompts Him to redeem and calls Christians to assist. There is a reason that God put into Old Testament texts the ways and reasons to redeem people, places, and things. God made us in His image; we are meant to walk and talk like Him. God redeems, so we are meant to redeem as well.
Where have you seen redemption in your life? Reflect on a time when you were in need of God’sredemption and found it. How did it happen
God Promises Strength
The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:7

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. Nahum 1:7

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” Ephesians 3:14-16
Have you experienced a place of physical, emotional , or Spiritual refuge? When have you felt safe in God’s strong hands?
Strength is part of God`s character that He gives to us to help us live through His Spirit. “Might” implies bodily strength, power, and energy. “Strength” is defined as the power
to resist force, or attack.
God Promises Compassion
God is not indifferent to the suffering of his
people, but he cares for them and helps them.
God’s compassion compels him to rescue his people
from their self-destructive ways which is the reason for
sending His son, Jesus. The Bible consistently describes God as compassionate, or rakhum in Hebrew, which means he is tender and gentle towards his people. God’s compassion is one of his attributes that reveals his character and his relationship with his people.
Psalm 103:8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
v13-14 Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.

Isaiah 49:15-16
Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me.
In the Bible, God’s compassion is consistently shown as both an emotional and active reality.
How have you sensed His compassion towards you?
Psalm 3:5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose
confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that
sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its
leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and
never fails to bear fruit.
God Promises to Sustain us
As creator, God sustains all things that affirms that
God not only created the universe but that he
upholds and sustains it by his power.
God is before all things, and in him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17)
God’s work to sustain all things is a necessary outworking of his nature and applies to His people especially.
In every circumstance God promises to meet us where we are and fulfill our needs. Take time to talk with God about your current sutuation.
God Promises to instruct us
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should
go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-8
Do you take note of instructions, or only
turn to them when your own way fails?
God as creator knows the correct way and offers us the solution if we ask and are willing to take it.
Consider when you seek help, what causes you to do so? Does this require extending?
God Promises to adopt us
He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will. Ephesians 1:5

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father Romans 8:15
Some of us have good parents, others not, but God wants to bring us into His family and He is a Good Father, who will never let us go,
How do you feel about "belonging"? Does it alter your behaviour and attitudes? In what ways?
God Promises Justice for us
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
1 John 1:9
God is the supreme judge on earth, and one of His attributes is Justice. No one will escape His Justice, but He has provided in His Sone, Jesus our advocate.
How does injustice affect you? How do you think God feels?
God Promises Healing for us
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we
might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds
you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares
the Lord. ‘because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no
one cares.’ Jeremiah 30:17

and heals all your diseases, Psalm 103:3

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we
ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know
that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have
what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15
There are many examples of healing in both
Old and New Testaments. There are many ways that it happenned. Each relied on faith which by its nature draws us closer to God and trusting Him.
How have you known God`s healing power in yourself and those whom you love? Have you examples of miraculous healings to encourage you. Also give thanks for the medical practices that brings healings.
God Promises Safety for us
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2

No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of
the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.
Isaiah 54:17
Being a Christian means that we are ready to walk through fire or water for God.. We acknowledge that our safety is guaranteed in the hands of God in the spiritual realm, but also is known here on earth
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
What experience of God`s saving presence have you had?
God Promises an Inheritance for us
“Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have
a delightful inheritance.” Psalm 16:5-6
“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to
the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the
purpose of his will.” Ephesians 1:11
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs
with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may
also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17
Giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” Colossians 1:12
As believers in the Lord we are promised a good inheritance. It`s a rich spiritual heritage that includes
the fullness of God’s kingdom and His blessings. It`s
not based on our efforts but God`s chosen plan that
will be fulfilled.
Are you assured of your inheritance?
God Promises Forgiveness for us
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
1 John 1:9

Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37
Forgiveness is conditional - on our contrite confession and forgiving others as we come to a Holy God whom we
can only approach because of what Jesus His Son did for us.
Part of God`s character is that no word from God will ever fail, so above all other promises we know we can come with clean hands and heart. How are you at forgiving yourself?
God Promises to Fight for us
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can be against us?

Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you;
you need only to be still.”
God fights for us to bring about His good and perfect will. The more we centre ourselves on His Will, the more we will experience His fight for us. Spiritual battles rage in our world but God has told us to
put on His armour (Ephesians 6) so that we
can stand firm with the Holy Spirit.
Fighting is active unless our commander tells us to stand. How do you partner with God through the Holy Spirit in the battles you face?
